حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الرُّؤْيَا الَّتِي أَرَيْنَاكَ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِلنَّاسِ قَالَ هِيَ رُؤْيَا عَيْنٍ رَآهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِهِ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 1916
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas concerning the words of Allah, "And We made not the vision which we showed you (O Muhammad as an actual eye- witness and not as a dream on the night of Al-Isrd') but a trial for mankind" [al-Isra' 17:60] / that he [fo said: It is something that the Prophet (jM) saw with his own eyes on the night on which he was taken on the Night Journey (lsra).
