مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 1193
it was narrated that Abu 'Ubaid, the freed slave of ' Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf, said:... Then I was present with 'Ali. He prayed before delivering the khutbah, with no adhan or iqamah, then he delivered the khutbah. He said: O people, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade eating from your sacrificial animals after three days, so do not eat from them after today.
