حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُسَلِّمُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ حَتَّى أَرَى بَيَاضَ وَجْهِهِ فَمَا نَسِيتُ بَعْدُ فِيمَا نَسِيتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4172
It was narrated from 'Abdullah from the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), that he used to say salam to his right and to his left, (turning his face so far that) I could see the whiteness of his face. And I did not forget among the things that i have forgotten: Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah, peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
