مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5653
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar that a Bedouin passed by Ibn 'Umar when they were on the way to Hajj. Ibn 'Umar said to him: Aren't you So and so, the son of So and so? He said: Yes. He took a donkey that he would ride for a change when he got bored of riding his camel, and a piece of cloth that he used to wrap around his head, and gave them to the Bedouin. When he left, some of us said: You took your donkey that you would ride for a change and your cloth that you used to wrap around your head, and gave them to this Bedouin! Rather he would have been content with a dirham. He said: I fieard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: "The best act of righteousness is for a man o uphold ties with his fathers friends after (his father) dies.
