'Umar bin al-Khattab said: I heard Hisham bin Hakeem reciting Sooratul-Furqan in prayer in a manner other than I recited it, and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) had taught it to me. I caught him by his garment and brought him to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), and said: O Messenger of Allah, I heard this man reciting Sooratul-Furqan in a maimer other than you taught it to me. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Recite it." He recited it in the manner in which I had heard him recite, and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Thus it was revealed." Then he said to me: "Recite it." So i recited it and he said; "Thus it was revealed. This Qur'an has been revealed in seven modes of recitation, so recite whatever is easy for you."
