حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ قَالَ عَفَّانُ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ مُحْرِزٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ آخِذًا بِيَدِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ كَيْفَ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فِي النَّجْوَى يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُدْنِي الْمُؤْمِنَ فَيَضَعُ عَلَيْهِ كَنَفَهُ وَيَسْتُرُهُ مِنْ النَّاسِ وَيُقَرِّرُهُ بِذُنُوبِهِ وَيَقُولُ لَهُ أَتَعْرِفُ ذَنْبَ كَذَا أَتَعْرِفُ ذَنْبَ كَذَا أَتَعْرِفُ ذَنْبَ كَذَا حَتَّى إِذَا قَرَّرَهُ بِذُنُوبِهِ وَرَأَى فِي نَفْسِهِ أَنَّهُ قَدْ هَلَكَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي قَدْ سَتَرْتُهَا عَلَيْكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَإِنِّي أَغْفِرُهَا لَكَ الْيَوْمَ ثُمَّ يُعْطَى كِتَابَ حَسَنَاتِهِ وَأَمَّا الْكُفَّارُ وَالْمُنَافِقُونَ فَيَقُولُ الْأَشْهَادُ هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ كَذَبُوا عَلَى رَبِّهِمْ أَلَا لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الظَّالِمِينَ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5436
It was narrated that Satwaan ibn Muhriz said: i was holding the hand of Ibn 'Umar when a man came to him and said: What did you hear the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say about najwa (private conversation) on the Day of Resurrection? He said: I heard him say: "Allah (PBUH) will bring the believer close to him, and will place His concealment on him and conceal him from the People, then He will make him confess his sins, and He will say to him: Do you admit such and such a sin? Do you admit such and such a sin? Do you admit such and such a sin? until He has made him admi t his sins, and he thinks to himself that he is doomed. Then He will say:I concealed them for you in the world and I forgive you for them today. Then he will be given the record of his good deeds. As for the disbelievers and the hypocrites, 'and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord!" No doubt! the curse of Allah is on the Zalimoon (polytheists, wrong-doers, oppressors, etc.)' [Hood 11:18]."
