حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَابَيْ الْمَكِّيُّ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ ضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ فَقَالَ أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ تَحِيَّةَ الصَّلَاةِ كَمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعَلِّمُنَا فَتَلَا عَلَيَّ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ يَعْنِي قَوْلَ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ فِي التَّشَهُّدِ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5360
'Abdullah ibn Baabay al-Makki said: I prayed beside 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar. When the prayer was over, he struck his thigh with his hand and said: Shall I not teach you the tahiyyah [1] of the prayer as the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) taught us? Then he recited these words, meaning the same words as Abu Moosa al-Ash'ari said in the tashahhud.
