حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا اسْتَفْتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنْ الرُّكُوعِ وَلَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي السُّجُودِ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5279
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to raise his hands when he started to pray, when he wanted to bow, and when he lifted his head from bowing, and he did not do that when he wanted to prostrate.
