حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى عُمَرَ فَانْطَلَقَ عُمَرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيُمْسِكْهَا حَتَّى تَحِيضَ غَيْرَ هَذِهِ الْحَيْضَةِ ثُمَّ تَطْهُرَ فَإِنْ بَدَا لَهُ أَنْ يُطَلِّقَهَا فَلْيُطَلِّقْهَا كَمَا أَمَرَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَإِنْ بَدَا لَهُ أَنْ يُمْسِكَهَا فَلْيُمْسِكْهَا
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5270
It was narrated from Saalim, from his father ('Abdullah ibn Umar), that he divorced his wife when she was menstruating and he Mentioned that to 'Umar, Umar went to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and told him about it and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Let him keep her until she has had another period, other than this menses, then becomes pure, then if he wants to divorce her, he may divorce her as Allah (PBUH) has enjoined, and if he wants to keep her, then let him keep her."
