حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ فِرَاسٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو صَالِحٍ عَنْ زَاذَانَ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فَدَعَا غُلَامًا لَهُ فَأَعْتَقَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَا لِي فِيهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ مَا يَسْوَى هَذَا أَوْ يَزِنُ هَذَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ ضَرَبَ عَبْدًا لَهُ حَدًّا لَمْ يَأْتِهِ أَوْ ظَلَمَهُ أَوْ لَطَمَهُ شَكَّ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ فَإِنَّ كَفَّارَتَهُ أَنْ يُعْتِقَهُ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5267
It was narrated that Zadhaan said: I was with Ibn Umar and he called a slave of his and manumitted him. Then he said: There is no more reward in it for me than the equivalent of this or the weight of this. I heard messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: “Whoever beats a slave of his for something he is innocent of or he wrong s him or slap him, his expiation is to manumit him"
