حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ وَابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُضْرَبُونَ إِذَا تَبَايَعُوا طَعَامًا جُزَافًا أَنْ يَبِيعُوهُ حَتَّى يُؤْوُوهُ إِلَى رِحَالِهِمْ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5148
It was narrated from Saalim ibn 'Abdulla h ibn 'Umar that his father said: I saw people being beaten (as punishment) at the time of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) if they bought foodstuff without measure then sold it on the spot, unless they moved it to their own place.
