مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5090
It was narrated that Sa'eed ibn Jubayr said: I was with Ibn 'Umar w'hen he was asked about nabeedh made in earthenw'are jars. He said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade them. I [Sa'eed] was upset when I heard that, so I went to Ibn 'Abbaas and said: Ibn 'Umar w r as asked about something and I thought it was too much (too difficult to stay away from this matter). He said: What was it? I said; He was asked about nabeedh made in earthenware jars and he said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade it. He said: He is right; the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) did forbid it. I said: What is an earthenware jar? He said: Anything that is made of day.
