حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي غِفَارٍ فِي مَجْلِسِ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي فُلَانٌ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ مِنْ خُبْزٍ وَلَحْمٍ فَقَالَ نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ فَنُووِلَ ذِرَاعًا فَأَكَلَهَا قَالَ يَحْيَى لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا هَكَذَا ثُمَّ قَالَ نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ فَنُووِلَ ذِرَاعًا فَأَكَلَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّمَا هُمَا ذِرَاعَانِ فَقَالَ وَأَبِيكَ لَوْ سَكَتَّ مَا زِلْتُ أُنَاوَلُ مِنْهَا ذِرَاعًا مَا دَعَوْتُ بِهِ فَقَالَ سَالِمٌ أَمَّا هَذِهِ فَلَا سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5089
Yahya ibn Abi Ishaaq narrated: a man from Banu Ghifaar narrated in the circle of Saaiim ibn 'Abdillah: So and so narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was given some food, bread and meat, and he said: “Pass me a foreleg." So he was given the foreleg and be ate it. Then he said: "Pass me a foreleg." So he was given the foreleg and be ate it. Then he said: "Pass me a foreleg." He said: O Messenger of Allah, there are only two. He said: “By my father, if you had kept quiet I would still be being given a foreleg every time I asked for it.” Saaiim said: As for this (report), no (it cannot be the words of the Prophet (PBUH). I heard Abdullah ibn 'Umar say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Verily Allah (PBUH) forbids you to swear by your fathers.”
