حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَحَجَّاجٌ الْمَعْنَى قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ مِنْ بَنِي أُمَيَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ الْأُمَوِيَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ وَرَأَى رَجُلًا يَعْبَثُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ لَا تَعْبَثْ فِي صَلَاتِكَ وَاصْنَعْ كَمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ فَوَضَعَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ فَخِذَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى وَيَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ الْيُسْرَى وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُمْنَى وَقَالَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5043
'Abd ar-Rahmaan ibn Ali said: I heard Ibn 'Umar say, when he saw a man fidgeting in his prayer: Do not fidget in your prayer; do what the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to do. And Muhammad (one of the narrators) said: Ibn 'Umar rested his right thigh on his left foot, and rested his left hand on his left knee and his right hand on his right knee and he pointed with his finger.
