مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5025
It was narrated from Yoonus ibn Jubayr that he asked Ibn 'Umar about a man who divorced his wife when she was menstruating. He said: Do you know 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar? He divorced his wife when she was menstruating, and 'Umar went to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and told him about that- The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Tell him to take her back, then if he wants to divorce her, he should divorce her at the beginning of her 'iddah." Ibn Bakr said: "or at the beginning of her purity." I said to Ibn 'Umar: Was that counted as one divorce (talaaq)? He said: Yes, even if he failed and acted foolishly.
