حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ يُصَلِّي حَيْثُمَا تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ رَاحِلَتُهُ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ وَيَتَأَوَّلُ عَلَيْهِ وَحَيْثُ مَا كُنْتُمْ فَوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5001
It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar prayed atop his mount no matter what direction it was facing, (and lie said:) I saw the messenger of Allah (PBUH) do that. and he recited to the verse ‘ “So wherever you turn yourselves or your faces) there is the Face of Allah (and He is High above over His Throne )" [al-Baqarah 2:115].
