مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4996
It was narrated that said' I said to Ibn 'Umar that Anas narrated to us that the Prophet m entered ihram for Umrah and Hajj. He said: Anas was mistaken; rather the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) entered ihram for Hajj and we entered ihram with him. Then when he came he said "Whoever does not have a hadiy (sacrificial animal) with him, let him make it 'Umrah." And the Prophet (PBUH) had a hadiy with him, so he did not exit ihram.
