مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4868
It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say on this minbar, when he was telling the people when they entered ihram not to do what was disliked for them: “Do not wear head covers, chemises, pants, burnooses, or khuffayn, apart from the one who has no choice but to wear them, in which case he should cut them so that they come lower than the ankles. (And do not wear) any garment that has been touched by wars (tmmecyion tinctorium, a plant dye) or saffron.” He said: And I heard him forbid the women to wear gloves or niqaabs, or any garment that had been touched by wars or saffron.
