حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي اللَّيْلَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ثُمَّ يُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ كَأَنَّ الْأَذَانَ وَالْإِقَامَةَ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ

مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4860

It was narrated that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to pray at night, two (rak'ahs) by two, then he would pray Witr with one rak'ah at the end of the night, then he would get up (to pray the two rak'ahs of Fajr, after having prayed the Sunnah) with the adhaan and iqaamah still ringing in his ears.
