حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ بِشْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ بُنِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ وَالْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ الْجِهَادُ حَسَنٌ هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4798
It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: "Islam is built upon five [pillars]: the testimony that there is no god but Allah; establishing regular prayer (salaah); paying the zakaah; Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House; and fasting Ramadaan.” Then a man said to him: And jihad for the sake of Allah? Ibn 'Umar said: Jihad is good, but this is what the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said to us.
