حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُمَا قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فَصَلَّيْنَا الْفَرِيضَةَ فَرَأَى بَعْضَ وَلَدِهِ يَتَطَوَّعُ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ فِي السَّفَرِ فَلَمْ يُصَلُّوا قَبْلَهَا وَلَا بَعْدَهَا قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ وَلَوْ تَطَوَّعْتُ لَأَتْمَمْتُ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4761
'Eesa ibn Hafs ibn 'Aasim narrated that his father said: We set out with ibn 'Umar (on a journey) and we offered the obligatory prayer, then he saw one of his sons offering a voluntary prayer. Ibn 'Umax said l prayed with the Prophet (PBUH), Abu Bakr, 'Umar and 'Uthmaan when travelling, and they did not offer any (naafil) prayer before or after it (the obligatory prayer). Ibn ‘Umar said: If i were to offer any voluntary prayer, I would have offered the (obligatory prayer) in full
