حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ وَاصَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَوَاصَلَ النَّاسُ فَقَالُوا نَهَيْتَنَا عَنْ الْوِصَالِ وَأَنْتَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4721
It was narrated that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) fasted continuously (without breaking the fast at night) in Ramadan, so the people fasted continuously. Then they said: You have forbidden us to fast continuously but you fast continuously? He said: "I am not like one erf you; I am fed and given to drink (by my Lord).”
