حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ كَانَتْ قُرَيْشٌ تَحْلِفُ بِآبَائِهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ كَانَ حَالِفًا فَلْيَحْلِفْ بِاللَّهِ لَا تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ

مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4703

'Abdullah ibn Dinar narrated: I heard Ibn 'Umar say: Quraysh used to swear by their fathers, but the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Whoever wants to swear, let him swear by Allah. Do not swear by your fathers"
