حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَدْرَكَ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ فِي رَكْبٍ وَهُوَ يَحْلِفُ بِأَبِيهِ فَقَالَ لَا تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ لِيَحْلِفْ حَالِفٌ بِاللَّهِ أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4667
It was narrated from Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) caught up with "Umar when he was among a group of riders and he was swearing by his father. He said: "Do not swear by your fathers. Whoever wants to swear, let him swear by Allah or else remain silent."
