حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ بَيْنَمَا النَّاسُ يُصَلُّونَ فِي مَسْجِدِ قُبَاءَ الْغَدَاةَ إِذْ جَاءَ جَاءٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ اللَّيْلَةَ قُرْآنٌ وَأُمِرَ أَنْ تُسْتَقْبَلَ الْكَعْبَةُ فَاسْتَقْبَلُوهَا وَاسْتَدَارُوا فَتَوَجَّهُوا نَحْوَ الْكَعْبَةِ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4642
'Abdullah ibn Dinar narrated: l heard Ibn 'Umar say: Whilst the people were praying Fajr in the mosque of Quba', someone came to them and said: Qur'aan was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) last night and he" was commanded to face towards the Ka'bah. So they turned around to face towards the Ka'bah.
