حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ قَالَ عَمْرٌو يَعْنِي ابْنَ دِينَارٍ ذَكَرُوا الرَّجُلَ يُهِلُّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَيَحِلُّ هَلْ لَهُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ يَعْنِي امْرَأَتَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَسَأَلْنَا جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ لَا حَتَّى يَطُوفَ بِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَسَأَلْنَا ابْنَ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَطَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ سَبْعًا فَصَلَّى خَلْفَ الْمَقَامِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَسَعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4641
'Amr - i.e., Ibn Dinar - said: They mentioned a man who enters ihram for 'Umrah then exits ihram: can he be intimate with his wife before going between as-Safa and al-Marwah (i.e., sa'i)? We asked Jaabir ibn 'Abdullah and he said: No, not until he goes between as-Safa and al-Marwah. And we asked Ibn 'Umar and he said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) came and circumambulated the House seven times, then he prayed two rak'ahs behind the Maqaam, then he went between as-Safa and al-Marwah, then he said: "Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad you have a good example to follow" [al-Ahzaab 33:21 J.
