حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُسْأَلُ عَنْ الْمَاءِ يَكُونُ بِأَرْضِ الْفَلَاةِ وَمَا يَنُوبُهُ مِنْ الدَّوَابِّ وَالسِّبَاعِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَ الْمَاءُ قَدْرَ الْقُلَّتَيْنِ لَمْ يَحْمِلْ الْخَبَثَ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4605
It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: I heard the Prophet (PBUH) being asked about water in the wilderness that may be frequented by animals and carnivores. The Prophet (PBUH) at : "If the water is the amount of two qullahs (a qullah is an earthenware bottle) it cannot become impure."
