حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ذُؤَيْبٍ مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ إِلَى الْحِمَى فَلَمَّا غَرُبَتْ الشَّمْسُ هِبْنَا أَنْ نَقُولَ لَهُ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ بَيَاضُ الْأُفُقِ وَذَهَبَتْ فَحْمَةُ الْعِشَاءِ نَزَلَ فَصَلَّى بِنَا ثَلَاثًا وَاثْنَتَيْنِ وَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيْنَا وَقَالَ هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَلَ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4598
It was narrated that Isma’eel ibn 'Abd ar-Rahmaan ibn Dhu'ayb, one of Banu Asad ibn 'Abd al-'Uzza, said: We went Out with Ibn 'Umar to al-hima (protected pasture land), and when the sun set, we felt too shy to remind him of the prayer, until the whiteness on the horizon had disappeared and the first hour of the night had gone. Then he dismounted and led us in praying three and two rak'ahs. Then he turned to face us and said: This is what I saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) do.
