حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الثَّمَرِ بِالتَّمْرِ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ كَذَا حَفِظْنَا الثَّمَرِ بِالتَّمْرِ وَأَخْبَرَهُمْ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَخَّصَ فِي الْعَرَايَا
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4541
It was narrated from Saalim, from his father, (that) the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade selling fresh dates (on the tree) for dried dates. Sufyaan said: This is how we memorized it, fresh dates (on the tree) for dried dates. Zayd ibn Thaabit told him that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) granted a concession allowing 'araaya[1].
