حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَتْ أَحَدَكُمْ امْرَأَتُهُ أَنْ تَأْتِيَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَلَا يَمْنَعْهَا قَالَ وَكَانَتْ امْرَأَةُ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ تُصَلِّي فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ لَهَا إِنَّكِ لَتَعْلَمِينَ مَا أُحِبُّ فَقَالَتْ وَاللَّهِ لَا أَنْتَهِي حَتَّى تَنْهَانِي قَالَ فَطُعِنَ عُمَرُ وَإِنَّهَا لَفِي الْمَسْجِدِ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4522
It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "If the wife of one of you asks permission to go to the mosque, do not prevent her.” The wife of 'Umar ibn al-Khattaab used to pray in the mosque, and he said to her: You know what I like. She said: By Allah, I will not stop unless you forbid me. And when 'Umar was stabbed, she was in the mosque.
