حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَامَ فَحَكَّهَا أَوْ قَالَ فَحَتَّهَا بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَتَغَيَّظَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قِبَلَ وَجْهِ أَحَدِكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَا يَتَنَخَّمَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ فِي صَلَاتِهِ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4509
It was narrated from Ibn Umar that the Prophet (PBUH) saw some sputum in the mosque, on wall of the qiblah. He scratched it then he turned to the people; he spoke harshly to them and said: "Verily Allah (PBUH) in front of one of you when he is praying, so let him not spit to the front whilst he is praying."
