حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ الْمُزَابَنَةِ وَالْمُزَابَنَةُ أَنْ يُبَاعَ مَا فِي رُءُوسِ النَّخْلِ بِتَمْرٍ بِكَيْلٍ مُسَمًّى إِنْ زَادَ فَلِي وَإِنْ نَقَصَ فَعَلَيَّ قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4490
It was narrated from IbnUmar that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade muzaabanah.Muzaabanah means selling what is on the top of the palm dees for dried dates of a specified amount, if there is more it is mine (the buyer's) and if there is less then it is my (the buyer's) loss. Ibn Umar said: Zayd ibn Thaabit told me that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) granted a concession allowing 'araaya [1J sales.
