حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ سَمِعْتُ بُرْدًا عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَبِيتُ أَحَدٌ ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ إِلَّا وَوَصِيَّتُهُ مَكْتُوبَةٌ قَالَ فَمَا بِتُّ مِنْ لَيْلَةٍ بَعْدُ إِلَّا وَوَصِيَّتِي عِنْدِي مَوْضُوعَةٌ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4469
It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "No one should stay three nights without having his will written with him." He said: I never spent the night after that but I had my will ready with me.
