حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْغَسِيلِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُتَقَنِّعًا بِثَوْبٍ فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ لَيَكْثُرُونَ وَإِنَّ الْأَنْصَارَ يَقِلُّونَ فَمَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْكُمْ أَمْرًا يَنْفَعُ فِيهِ أَحَدًا فَلْيَقْبَلْ مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ وَيَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 2629
It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) went out, covering his head with his garment, and said: "O people, the people are increasing in number and the Ansar are de- creasing. Whoever attains a position of authority in which he is able to benefit anyone, let him accept the good deeds of those who do good and overlook their bad deeds’'.
