حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا ابْنُ عَشْرِ سِنِينَ وَأَنَا مَخْتُونٌ وَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ الْمُحْكَمَ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي بِشْرٍ مَا الْمُحْكَمُ قَالَ الْمُفَصَّلُ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 2601
It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: The Messenger of AUah (PBUH) died when I was ten years old and had recently been circumcised, and I had read al- Muhkam of the Qur'an. i [the narrator) said to Abu Bishr: What is al-Muhkam? He said: al-Mufassal.
