حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ مَا سَنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا إِلَّا وَقَدْ عَلِمْتُهُ غَيْرَ ثَلَاثٍ لَا أَدْرِي كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ أَمْ لَا وَلَا أَدْرِي كَيْفَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنْ الْكِبَرِ عُتِيًّا أَوْ عُسُيًّا قَالَ حُصَيْنٌ وَنَسِيتُ الثَّالِثَةَ قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ سَمِعْتُهَا كُلَّهَا أَنَا مِنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عُتِيًّا
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 2332
It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) did not prescribe anything but I learned it, apart from three things, I do not know whether the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) recited in Zuhr and 'Asr or not. And I do not know how he recited this verse: “Wa qad balaghtu minal- kibari ' utiyya " or " ’usiyya" {referring to the verse "and I have reached the extreme old age" [Maryam 19:8]). Husain said: And I forgot the third. 'Abdullah said: I heard it all from 'Usman bin Muhammad.
