حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ کُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ خَالِصٌ وَمَنْ کَانَتْ فِيهِ خَلَّةٌ مِنْهُنَّ کَانَ فِيهِ خَلَّةٌ مِنْ نِفَاقٍ حَتَّی يَدَعَهَا إِذَا حَدَّثَ کَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ
سنن ابودوٗد · Hadith 4688
Abdullah bin Amr reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: Four characteristics constitute anyone who possesses them a sheer hypocrite, and anyone who possesses one of them possesses a characteristics of hypocrisy till he abandons it: when he talks he lies, when he makes a promise he violates it, when he makes a covenant he acts treacherously, and when he quarrels, he deviates from the Truth.
