حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ کَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ تِيبَ عَلَيْهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَنْخَلِعُ مِنْ مَالِي صَدَقَةً إِلَی اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمْسِکْ عَلَيْکَ بَعْضَ مَالِکَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَکَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ يُشْبِهُ أَنْ يَکُونَ الزُّهْرِيُّ سَمِعَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ کَعْبٍ وَمِنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْهُ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ الطَّوِيلِ تَوْبَةُ کَعْبٍ
سنن نسائی · Hadith 3859
‘Abdullah bin Ka’b bin Ubayy narrated from his father, that he said to the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم — when his repentance was accepted: “Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم! I want to give all my wealth in charity for Allah and His Messenger.” The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said to him: “Keep some of your wealth for yourself; that is better for you.” (Sahih) Abu ‘Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasa’i) said: It appears that Az-Zuhri heard this Hadith from ‘Abdullah bin Ka’b and from ‘Abdur Rahman from him; in this Hadith is the long narration about the repentance of Ka’b.
