حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ ح و حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا وَقَعَ بِامْرَأَتِهِ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَاسْتَفْتَی رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ذَلِکَ فَقَالَ هَلْ تَجِدُ رَقَبَةً قَالَ لَا قَالَ وَهَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ صِيَامَ شَهْرَيْنِ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَأَطْعِمْ سِتِّينَ مِسْکِينًا
صحیح مسلم · Hadith 2597
A hadith like this has been narrated on the authority of Muhammad b. Muslim al-Zuhri with the same chain of transmitters, and he said: There was brought an 'araq containing dates, an 'araq being a huge basket. But in this hadith no mention has been made of (the fact) that the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) laughed till his molar teeth became visible.
