حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ الضَّبِّيُّ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ وَهُوَ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ حُمْرَانَ مَوْلَی عُثْمَانَ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ بِوَضُوئٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ نَاسًا يَتَحَدَّثُونَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَادِيثَ لَا أَدْرِي مَا هِيَ إِلَّا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ مِثْلَ وُضُوئِي هَذَا ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ هَکَذَا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَکَانَتْ صَلَاتُهُ وَمَشْيُهُ إِلَی الْمَسْجِدِ نَافِلَةً وَفِي رِوَايَةِ ابْنِ عَبْدَةَ أَتَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ فَتَوَضَّأَ
صحیح مسلم · Hadith 544
Amr b Sa'id b al-As reported: I was with Uthman, and he called for ablution water and said: I heard Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) say: When the time for a prescribed prayer comes, if any Muslim performs ablution well and offers his prayer with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for his past sins, so long as he has not committed a major sin; and this applies for all times.
