أَخْبَرَنَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ عَمَّهُ غَابَ عَنْ بَدْرٍ فَقَالَ غِبْتُ عَنْ أَوَّلِ قِتَالِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَئِنْ أَشْهَدَنِي اللَّهُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيَرَيَنَّ اللَّهُ مَا أُجِدُّ فَلَقِيَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَهُزِمَ النَّاسُ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعْتَذِرُ إِلَيْکَ مِمَّا صَنَعَ هَؤُلَائِ يَعْنِي الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَأَبْرَأُ إِلَيْکَ مِمَّا جَائَ بِهِ الْمُشْرِکُونَ فَتَقَدَّمَ بِسَيْفِهِ فَلَقِيَ سَعْدَ بْنَ مُعَاذٍ فَقَالَ أَيْنَ يَا سَعْدُ إِنِّي أَجِدُ رِيحَ الْجَنَّةِ دُونَ أُحُدٍ فَمَضَی فَقُتِلَ فَمَا عُرِفَ حَتَّی عَرَفَتْهُ أُخْتُهُ بِشَامَةٍ أَوْ بِبَنَانِهِ وَبِهِ بِضْعٌ وَثَمَانُونَ مِنْ طَعْنَةٍ وَضَرْبَةٍ وَرَمْيَةٍ بِسَهْمٍ
صحیح بخاری · Hadith 4049
Narrated Zaid bin Thabit: When we wrote the Holy Qur'an, I missed one of the Verses of Surat-al-Ahzab which I used to hear Allah's Apostle reciting. Then we searched for it and found it with Khuza`ima bin Thabit Al-Ansari. The Verse was:-- 'Among the Believers are men Who have been true to Their Covenant with Allah, Of them, some have fulfilled Their obligations to Allah (i.e. they have been Killed in Allah's Cause), And some of them are (still) waiting" (33.23) So we wrote this in its place in the Qur'an.
