أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَجِيدِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ: أَنَّ عَبْدَ الْحَمِيدِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، وَالْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ أَخْبَرَاهُ، أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ: أَنَّهَا لَمَّا قَدِمَتِ الْمَدِينَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُمْ أَنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ فَكَذَّبُوهَا، وَقَالُوا: مَا أَكْذَبَ الْغَرَائِبَ! ، حَتَّى أَنْشَأَ إِنْسَانٌ مِنْهُمُ الْحَجَّ، فَقَالُوا: أَتَكْتُبِينَ إِلَى أَهْلِكِ؟ فَكَتَبَتْ مَعَهُمْ، فَرَجَعُوا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ قَالَتْ: فَصَدَّقُونِي وَازْدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ كَرَامَةً، قَالَتْ: فَلَمَّا حَلَلْتُ جَاءَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَخَطَبَنِي فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: مَا مِثْلِي نُكِحَ.أَمَّا أَنَا فَلا وَلَدَ لِي وَأَنَا غَيُورٌ ذَاتُ عِيَالٍ، قَالَ: " أَنَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْكِ، وَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ فَيُذْهِبُهَا اللَّهُ، وَأَمَّا الْعِيَالُ فَإِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ، فَتَزَوَّجَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَعَلَ يَأْتِيهَا وَيَقُولُ: «أَيْنَ زُنَابُ» ؟ حَتَّى جَاءَ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ فَاخْتَلَجَهَا، وَقَالَ: هَذِهِ تَمْنَعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَتْ تُرْضِعُهَا فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «أَيْنَ زُنَابُ» ؟ فَقَالَتْ قُرَيْبَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ وَوَافَقَهَا عِنْدَهَا: أَخَذَهَا عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنِّي آتِيكُمُ اللَّيْلَةَ» . قَالَتْ: فَقُمْتُ فَوَضَعْتُ ثِفَالِي وَأَخْرَجْتُ حَبَّاتٍ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ كَانَتْ فِي جَرٍّ وَأَخْرَجْتُ شَحْمًا فَعَصَدْتُهُ أَوْ عَصَرْتُهُ، قَالَتْ: فَبَاتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْبَحَ فَقَالَ حِينَ أَصْبَحَ: «إِنَّ لَكِ عَلَى أَهْلِكِ كَرَامَةً، فَإِنْ شِئْتِ سَبَّعْتُ لَكِ، وَإِنْ أُسَبِّعْ أُسَبِّعْ لِنِسَائِي» .
