قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ ابْنَ نَافِعٍ يَذْكُرُ عَنْ مَالِكٍ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ. قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ: وَقَرَأْنَا عَلَى مَالِكٍ: إِنَّا لَمْ نَعْلَمْ أَحَدًا مِنَ الأَئِمَّةِ فِي الْقَدِيمِ وَلا الْحَدِيثِ قَضَى فِيمَا دُونَ الْمُوضِحَةِ بِشَيْءٍ. أَخْرَجَ الأَوَّلَ مِنْ كِتَابِ جِرَاحِ الْعَمْدِ، وَإِلَى آخِرِ الرَّابِعِ وَقَوْلَ الشَّافِعِيِّ فِي كِتَابِ اخْتِلافِ مَالِكٍ وَالشَّافِعِيِّ.

Al-Shafi’i said: And he told me who heard Nafi’s son mentioning the same as this chain of transmission. Al-Shafi’i said: We read an angel: We did not know of any of the imams in the past, nor hadith hadeeth, and it was spent in no time. Take the first from the Book of Surgeons of Mayors, and to the end of the fourth and the words of al-Shafi’i in the book of the difference of Malik and al-Shafi’i.
