أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ صَدَقَةَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، قَالَ: أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَى سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ نَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ دِيَةِ الْمُعَاهِدِ، فَقَالَ: قَضَى فِيهِ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بِأَرْبَعَةِ آلافٍ، قَالَ: فَقُلْنَا: فَمَنْ قَتَلَهُ؟ قَالَ: فَحَصَبَنَا. قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ: هُمُ الَّذِينَ سَأَلُوهُ آخِرًا.

مسند امام شافی · Hadith 1655

Tell us Shafei may Allah be pleased with him, said: Tell us Sufian bin appointment, for charity bin left, he said: we sent to Saeed bin Musayyib ask for friendly institutes, he said, where he spent Othman bin Affan may Allah be pleased with him four thousand, he said, and we said: it killed him? He said: We counted us. Al-Shafi’i said: They are the ones who asked him another.
