قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ فِي كِتَابِهِ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ، قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ أَقْطَعَ النَّاسَ الدُّورَ، فَقَالَ حَيٌّ مِنْ بَنِي زُهْرَةَ، يُقَالُ لَهُمْ: بَنُو عَبْدِ بْنِ زُهْرَةَ: نَكِّبْ عَنَّا ابْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «فَلِمَ ابْتَعَثَنِي اللَّهُ إِذَنْ؟ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يُقَدِّسُ أُمَّةً لا يُؤْخَذُ لِلضَّعِيفِ فِيهِمْ حَقُّهُ» .
