حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنِي عُتْبَةُ بْنُ أَبِي حَکِيمٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَارِيَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ الشَّعْبَانِيِّ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ أَبَا ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيَّ قَالَ قُلْتُ کَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ فِي هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ قَالَ أَيَّةُ آيَةٍ قُلْتُ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْکُمْ أَنْفُسَکُمْ لَا يَضُرُّکُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ قَالَ سَأَلْتَ عَنْهَا خَبِيرًا سَأَلْتُ عَنْهَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ بَلْ ائْتَمِرُوا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنَاهَوْا عَنْ الْمُنْکَرِ حَتَّی إِذَا رَأَيْتَ شُحًّا مُطَاعًا وَهَوًی مُتَّبَعًا وَدُنْيَا مُؤْثَرَةً وَإِعْجَابَ کُلِّ ذِي رَأْيٍ بِرَأْيِهِ وَرَأَيْتَ أَمْرًا لَا يَدَانِ لَکَ بِهِ فَعَلَيْکَ خُوَيْصَةَ نَفْسِکَ فَإِنَّ مِنْ وَرَائِکُمْ أَيَّامَ الصَّبْرِ الصَّبْرُ فِيهِنَّ عَلَی مِثْلِ قَبْضٍ عَلَی الْجَمْرِ لِلْعَامِلِ فِيهِنَّ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ خَمْسِينَ رَجُلًا يَعْمَلُونَ بِمِثْلِ عَمَلِهِ

It was narrated that Abu Umayyah Sha'baru said: "l came to Abu Tha'labah AI-Khushani and said: 'How do you understand this Verse.?' He said: 'Whichverse? I said: "0 you who believe! Take care of your own selves. If you follow the (right) guidance, no hurt can come to you from those who are in error.''? He said: 'You have asked one who knows about it. I asked the Messenger of Allah about it and he said: "Enjoin good upon one another and forbid one another to do evil, but if you see overwhelming stinginess, desires being followed, this world being preferred (to the Hereafter), every person with an opinion feeling proud of it, and you realize that you have no power to deal with it, then you have to mind your own business and leave the common foIk to their own devices. After you will come days of patience, during which patience will be like grasping a burning ember, and one who does good deeds will have a reward like that of fifty men doing the same deed." (Hasan)

حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ يَحْيَی بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ الْخُزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَيْدٍ حَفْصُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ الرُّعَيْنِيُّ عَنْ مَکْحُولٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ قَالَ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَتَی نَتْرُکُ الْأَمْرَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَالنَّهْيَ عَنْ الْمُنْکَرِ قَالَ إِذَا ظَهَرَ فِيکُمْ مَا ظَهَرَ فِي الْأُمَمِ قَبْلَکُمْ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا ظَهَرَ فِي الْأُمَمِ قَبْلَنَا قَالَ الْمُلْکُ فِي صِغَارِکُمْ وَالْفَاحِشَةُ فِي کِبَارِکُمْ وَالْعِلْمُ فِي رُذَالَتِکُمْ قَالَ زَيْدٌ تَفْسِيرُ مَعْنَی قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْعِلْمُ فِي رُذَالَتِکُمْ إِذَا کَانَ الْعِلْمُ فِي الْفُسَّاقِ

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "It was said:Messenger of Allah, when should we stop enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil?' He said: 'When there appears among you that which appeared among those who came before you.' We said: ‘0 Messenger of Allah, what appeared among those who came before us?’ He said: ‘Kingship given to your youth, immorality even among the old, and knowledge among the base and vile.” (Hasan) Zaid said: “The meaning of the Prophet’s words: ‘Knowledge among the base and vile’ is when knowledge is found among the evildoers.”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَاصِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ جُنْدُبٍ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِلْمُؤْمِنِ أَنْ يُذِلَّ نَفْسَهُ قَالُوا وَکَيْفَ يُذِلُّ نَفْسَهُ قَالَ يَتَعَرَّضُ مِنْ الْبَلَائِ لِمَا لَا يُطِيقُهُ

It was narrated from Hudhaifah that the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H said: “The believer should not humiliate himself.” They said: “How could he humiliate himself?” He said: “By taking on trial that he cannot deal with.'' (Da`if)

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبُو طُوَالَةَ حَدَّثَنَا نَهَارٌ الْعَبْدِيُّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيَسْأَلُ الْعَبْدَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّی يَقُولَ مَا مَنَعَکَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَ الْمُنْکَرَ أَنْ تُنْکِرَهُ فَإِذَا لَقَّنَ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا حُجَّتَهُ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ رَجَوْتُکَ وَفَرِقْتُ مِنْ النَّاسِ

Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H say: 'Allah will question His slave on the Day of Resurrection, until He says: "What kept you from denouncing evil when you saw it?" When Allah grants His slave a response, he will say: "0 Lord, I hoped for Your mercy but I feared the people." (Hasan)
