حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ وَوَکِيعٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَأَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ جَوْفُ الرَّجُلِ قَيْحًا حَتَّی يَرِيَهُ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ شِعْرًا إِلَّا أَنَّ حَفْصًا لَمْ يَقُلْ يَرِيَهُ

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah(ra) that the Messenger of Allah(saw) said: "If a man were to fill his stomach completely with pus until it destroyed him, that would be better for him than filling (his mind) with poetry." (Sahih) Except that (one of the narrators) Hafs did not say: "until it destroyed him."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنِي قَتَادَةُ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَأَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ جَوْفُ أَحَدِکُمْ قَيْحًا حَتَّی يَرِيَهُ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ شِعْرًا

It was narrated from Sa'd bin Abu Waqqas that the Prophet(saw) said: "If a man were to fill his stomach completely with pus until it destroyed him, that would better for him than filling (his mind)with poetry." (Sahih)

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ شَيْبَانَ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مَاهَکَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ أَعْظَمَ النَّاسِ فِرْيَةً لَرَجُلٌ هَاجَی رَجُلًا فَهَجَا الْقَبِيلَةَ بِأَسْرِهَا وَرَجُلٌ انْتَفَی مِنْ أَبِيهِ وَزَنَّی أُمَّهُ

It was narrated from Aishah that the Messenger of Allah(saw) said: "The worst of all people in lying is a man who trades insults with another man, disparaging the entire tribe, and a man who denies his father and accuses his mother of adultery." (Hasan)
