It was narrated that Anas said: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “Whoever forgets a prayer, let him pray it when he remembers it.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ الْأَحْوَلُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الرَّجُلِ يَرْقُدُ عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ أَوْ يَغْفُلُ عَنْهَا قَالَ کَفَّارَتُهَا أَنْ يُصَلِّيَهَا إِذَا ذَکَرَهَا

It was narrated that Anas said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم was asked about a man who slept and missed the prayer, or forgot it. He said: ‘The expiation for that is to pray it when he remembers it.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ ذَکَرُوا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَوْمَهُمْ عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِي النَّوْمِ تَفْرِيطٌ إِنَّمَا التَّفْرِيطُ فِي الْيَقَظَةِ فَإِذَا نَسِيَ أَحَدُکُمْ صَلَاةً أَوْ نَامَ عَنْهَا فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَکَرَهَا

It was narrated that Abu Qatadah said: “They told the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم that they had slept and missed the prayer. He said: ‘There is no negligence when one sleeps, rather negligence is when one is awake. If any one of you forgets a prayer or sleeps and misses it, let him pray it when he remembers it.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَکِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْسَ فِي النَّوْمِ تَفْرِيطٌ إِنَّمَا التَّفْرِيطُ فِيمَنْ لَمْ يُصَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّی يَجِيئَ وَقْتُ الصَّلَاةِ الْأُخْرَی حِينَ يَنْتَبِهُ لَهَا

It was narrated that Abu Qatadah said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘There is no negligence when one sleeps, rather negligence is when one does not offer one prayer until the time of the next prayer comes and he realizes that he has missed a prayer.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا نَامُوا عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّی طَلَعَتْ الشَّمْسُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلْيُصَلِّهَا أَحَدُکُمْ مِنْ الْغَدِ لِوَقْتِهَا

It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that when they missed the prayer because they slept until the sun rose, the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “Let any one of you pray it during its time tomorrow.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَی بْنُ وَاصِلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَقَ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا نَسِيتَ الصَّلَاةَ فَصَلِّ إِذَا ذَکَرْتَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَی يَقُولُ أَقِمْ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِکْرِي قَالَ عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَی حَدَّثَنَا بِهِ يَعْلَی مُخْتَصَرًا

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: If you forget a prayer, pray it when you remember it, for Allah says: “and perform the alah for My remembrance .'' (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَکَرَهَا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَی يَقُولُ أَقِمْ الصَّلَاةَ لِلذِّکْرَی قُلْتُ لِلزُّهْرِيِّ هَکَذَا قَرَأَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ نَعَمْکَيْفَ يُقْضَی الْفَائِتُ مِنْ الصَّلَاةِ

It was narrated from Ma’mar, from Az-Zuhri, from Saeed bin Al Musayyab, that Abu Hurairah said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Whoever forgets a prayer, let him pray it when he remembers it, for Allah says: “and perform prayer when you remember (li dhikra).” I said to Az-Zuhri: “Is that how the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم recited it?” He said: “Yes.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَطَائِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ کُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَأَسْرَيْنَا لَيْلَةً فَلَمَّا کَانَ فِي وَجْهِ الصُّبْحِ نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَامَ وَنَامَ النَّاسُ فَلَمْ يَسْتَيْقِظْ إِلَّا بِالشَّمْسِ قَدْ طَلَعَتْ عَلَيْنَا فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمُؤَذِّنَ فَأَذَّنَ ثُمَّ صَلَّی الرَّکْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ فَصَلَّی بِالنَّاسِ ثُمَّ حَدَّثَنَا بِمَا هُوَ کَائِنٌ حَتَّی تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ

It was narrated from Buraid bin Abi Mariam that his father said: “We were with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم on a journey, and we kept going one night, then when it was nearly morning the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم dismounted and slept, and the people slept too. We did not wake up until the sun had risen. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم asked the Mu‘adhdhin to call the Adhan, then he prayed the two Rak’ahs before Fajr, then he asked him to say the Iqamah, then he led the people in prayer. Then he told us about everything that will happen until the Hour begins.” (Hasan)

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتَوَائِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ کُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحُبِسْنَا عَنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَائِ فَاشْتَدَّ ذَلِکَ عَلَيَّ فَقُلْتُ فِي نَفْسِي نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلَالًا فَأَقَامَ فَصَلَّی بِنَا الظُّهْرَ ثُمَّ أَقَامَ فَصَلَّی بِنَا الْعَصْرَ ثُمَّ أَقَامَ فَصَلَّی بِنَا الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ أَقَامَ فَصَلَّی بِنَا الْعِشَائَ ثُمَّ طَافَ عَلَيْنَا فَقَالَ مَا عَلَی الْأَرْضِ عِصَابَةٌ يَذْکُرُونَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ غَيْرُکُمْ

It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud said: “We were with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and we were prevented from praying uhr, ‘Asr, Maghrib and ‘lsha’. I felt very upset about that and I said to myself: ‘We are with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and (fighting) for the sake of Allah.’ Then the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم commanded Bilal to say the Iqamah and he led us in praying Zuhr. Then he said the Iqamah and he led us in praying ‘Asr. Then he said the Iqamah and he led us in praying Maghrib. Then he said the Iqamah and he led us in praying ‘Isha’. Then he went around among us and told us: ‘There is no group on Earth who is remembering Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, except you.” (Hasan)

أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ کَيْسَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ عَرَّسْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ نَسْتَيْقِظْ حَتَّی طَلَعَتْ الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيَأْخُذْ کُلُّ رَجُلٍ بِرَأْسِ رَاحِلَتِهِ فَإِنَّ هَذَا مَنْزِلٌ حَضَرَنَا فِيهِ الشَّيْطَانُ قَالَ فَفَعَلْنَا فَدَعَا بِالْمَائِ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ صَلَّی سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلَّی الْغَدَاةَ

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “We stopped to camp at the end of the night with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم, and we did not wake up until the sun had risen. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Let each man take hold of his camel’s head (and leave), for the Shaitan was here in this place with us.’ We did that, then he called for water and performed Wudu’, then he prayed two Rak’ahs, then the Iqarnah was said and he prayed Al-Ghadah (Fajr).” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ خُشَيْشُ بْنُ أَصْرَمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ حَسَّانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي سَفَرٍ لَهُ مَنْ يَکْلَؤُنَا اللَّيْلَةَ لَا نَرْقُدَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ قَالَ بِلَالٌ أَنَا فَاسْتَقْبَلَ مَطْلَعَ الشَّمْسِ فَضُرِبَ عَلَی آذَانِهِمْ حَتَّی أَيْقَظَهُمْ حَرُّ الشَّمْسِ فَقَامُوا فَقَالَ تَوَضَّئُوا ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ بِلَالٌ فَصَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ وَصَلَّوْا رَکْعَتَيْ الْفَجْرِ ثُمَّ صَلَّوْا الْفَجْرَ

It was narrated from Nafi’ bin Jubair, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said during a journey: “Who will watch out for dawn for us, so that we do not sleep and miss the dawn prayer?” Bilal said: ‘I will.’ He turned to face the direction where the sun would rise, but they fell fast asleep until the heat of the sun woke them up, then they got up. He said: ‘Perform Wudu’.’ Then Bilal called the Adhan and he prayed two Rak’ahs, and they prayed the two (Sunnah) Rak’ahs of Fajr, then they prayed Fajr.” (Sahih)
