حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ الْكَلْبِيِّ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَقُولُ مَا كُنَّا نَدْعُوهُ إِلَّا زَيْدَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ حَتَّى نَزَلَ الْقُرْآنُ ادْعُوهُمْ لِآبَائِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ

It was narrated that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar used to say concerning Zayd ibn Haarithah, tlie freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH): We did not call him anything but Zayd ibn Muhammad, until it was revealed in the Qur'an: "Call them (adopted sons) by (the names of) their fathers, that is more just with Allah" [al-Ahzaab 33:5].

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to pray two rak'ahs after Jumu'ah.

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ سَمِعْتُ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ مَا نَعْمَلُ فِيهِ أَمْرٌ مُبْتَدَعٌ أَوْ مُبْتَدَأٌ أَوْ أَمْرٌ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ قَالَ أَمْرٌ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ فَاعْمَلْ يَا ابْنَ الْخَطَّابِ فَإِنَّ كُلًّا مُيَسَّرٌ فَأَمَّا مَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ السَّعَادَةِ فَإِنَّهُ يَعْمَلُ لِلسَّعَادَةِ وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّقَاءِ فَإِنَّهُ يَعْمَلُ لِلشَّقَاءِ

Saalim ibn 'Abdullah narrated from his father that 'Umar said: O Messenger of Allah, what do you think we are striving for - is it for something that has already been decreed or something that has yet to be decided? Be said: "For something that has already been decreed. So strive, O son of al-Khattaab, for each one will be helped. The one who is destined to be blessed will do the deeds that lead him to be blessed, and the one who is destined to be doomed will do the deeds that lead him to be doomed.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ خَطَبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِذَا رَاحَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "If one of you (wants to) come to Jumu'ah, let him do ghusl."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ حُرَيْثٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ أَنَّ الصُّبْحَ يُدْرِكُكَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ قَالَ فَقِيلَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ مَا مَثْنَى مَثْنَى قَالَ تُسَلِّمُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

Uqbah ibn Hurayth said: I heard Ibn Umar narrate from the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) "The night prayers are two by two, then when you think that dawn is approaching, pray one (rak'ah) of witr It was said to Ibn 'Umar: what does two by two mean? He said: Say the tasleem after each two rak'ahs.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ وَطَبَّقَ شُعْبَةُ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَكَسَرَ الْإِبْهَامَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ قَالَ عُقْبَةُ وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ وَالشَّهْرُ ثَلَاثُونَ وَطَبَّقَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ

It was narrated from Uqbah ibn Hurayth: I heard Ibn Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "The month is twenty nine," and Shu'bah pat his hands together three times, and tucked away his thumb on the third time 'Uqbah said: And I think he said: "The month is thirty.” and he put his hands together three times.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ يَعْنِي لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فَإِنْ ضَعُفَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَوْ عَجَزَ فَلَا يُغْلَبَنَّ عَلَى السَّبْعِ الْبَوَاقِي

It was narrated from 'Uqbah ibn Hurayth: I heard Ibn 'Umar say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Seek it in the last ten nights, meaning Laylat al-Qadr, "and if one of you feels weak or tired, that should not cause you to miss the last seven (nights)."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَبِيذِ الْجَرِّ أَهَلْ نَهَى عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ زَعَمُوا ذَلِكَ فَقُلْتُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى فَقَالَ قَدْ زَعَمُوا ذَلِكَ فَقُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ قَدْ زَعَمُوا ذَلِكَ فَصَرَفَهُ اللَّهُ عَنِّي وَكَانَ إِذَا قِيلَ لِأَحَدٍ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ غَضِبَ وَهَمَّ يُخَاصِمُهُ

It was narrated from Thaabit: I asked Ibn 'Umar about nabeedh made in earthenware jars: Did the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbid it? He said: They say so. I said: Did the Prophet (PBUH) forbid it? He said: They say so. I said: Did you hear that from him? He said: They say so. Then he moved on If it was said to one of them (Sahaabah): Did you hear it (from the Prophet}? he would get angry and they would get cross with him.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ يَعْنِي السَّخْتِيَانِيَّ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ بَاعَ نَخْلًا قَدْ أُبِّرَتْ فَثَمَرَتُهَا لِرَبِّهَا الْأَوَّلِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَشْتَرِطَ الْمُبْتَاعُ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: "If a man sells palm trees that have been pollinated, the produce belongs to the first owner, unless the buyer stipulates otherwise."'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا رَاحَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ

It was narrated from Ibn Umar from the Prophet (PBUH) “If one of you (wants to) go to jumu'ah, let him do ghusl."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ طَلَّقْتُ امْرَأَتِي وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ فَأَتَى عُمَرُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ مُرْهُ فَلْيُرَاجِعْهَا ثُمَّ إِذَا طَهُرَتْ فَلْيُطَلِّقْهَا قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ أَحَسِبَ تِلْكَ التَّطْلِيقَةَ قَالَ فَمَهْ

It was narrated from Anas ibn Sireen that he heard Ibn 'Umar say: I divorced my wife when she was menstruating. 'Umar went to the Prophet (PBUH) and told him (about that) and he said: "Tell him to take her back, then when she becomes pure let him divorce her." I said to Ibn 'Umar: Did it count as a divorce? He said: of course.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ مَا أَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي بِاللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى وَيُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ أَنَسٌ قُلْتُ فَإِنَّمَا أَسْأَلُكَ مَا أَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ فَقَالَ بَهْ بَهْ إِنَّكَ لَضَخْمٌ إِنَّمَا أُحَدِّثُ أَوْ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَقْتَصُّ لَكَ الْحَدِيثَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي بِاللَّيْلِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ يُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ كَأَنَّ الْأَذَانَ أَوْ الْإِقَامَةَ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ

It was narrated that Anas ibn Sireen said: I asked Ibn 'Umar what should I recite in the two rak'ahs before Fajr? Ibn Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to pray at night two (rak'ahs) by two, and pray Witr with one rakah at the end of the night. Anas said: I said: But I asked you what I should recite in the two rak'ahs before Fajr. He said: Stop, stop; you are dense! I am narrating - or he said: I arn telling you - the hadeeth. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to pray at night two (rak'ahs) by two, and pray Witr with one rak ah at the end of the night, then he would get up (to pray the two rak'ahs of Fajr, after having prayed the Sunnah) with the adhaan and iqaamah stiJl ringing in his ears.
