Musnad Imam Ahmad Bin Hanble

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ أَخْبَرَنِي وَرْقَاءُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ احْتَجَمَ وَأَعْطَى الْحَجَّامَ أَجْرَهُ

It was narrated from 'Ali (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was treated with cupping and he gave the cupper his fee.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ و حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا وَرْقَاءُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَمَرَنِي فَأَعْطَيْتُ الْحَجَّامَ أَجْرَهُ

It was narrated that 'Ali said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was treated with cupping and he instructed me to give the cupper his fee.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ زَاذَانَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَأَلَتْ خَدِيجَةُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ وَلَدَيْنِ مَاتَا لَهَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُمَا فِي النَّارِ قَالَ فَلَمَّا رَأَى الْكَرَاهِيَةَ فِي وَجْهِهَا قَالَ لَوْ رَأَيْتِ مَكَانَهُمَا لَأَبْغَضْتِهِمَا قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَوَلَدِي مِنْكَ قَالَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَوْلَادَهُمْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَأَوْلَادَهُمْ فِي النَّارِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ

It was narrated that 'Ali (RA) said: Khadeejah asked the Prophet (PBUH) about two children of her who had died during the Jahiliyyah. The Messenger of Allah said: "They are in Hell." When he saw that she was upset, he said: "If you saw where they are now, you would hate them.She said: O Messenger of Allah, about my child from you? He said: "He is in Paradise." Then the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "The believers and their children will be in Paradise and the mushrikeen and their children will be in Hell." Then the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) recited: "And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, - to them shall We join their offspring..." [at-Toor 52:25].

عَلِيٍّ، ← زَاذَانَ ← مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ← عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْجَزَّارِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ قَاعِدًا يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ عَلَى فُرْضَةٍ مِنْ فُرَضِ الْخَنْدَقِ فَقَالَ شَغَلُونَا عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى حَتَّى غَابَتْ الشَّمْسُ مَلَأَ اللَّهُ بُطُونَهُمْ وَبُيُوتَهُمْ نَارًا

It was narrated from 'Ali (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) was sitting at one of the crossing points of the ditch on the day of al-Khandaq and he said: "They distracted us from the middle prayer until the sun set. May Allah fill their bellies and their houses with fire."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ خَيْرٍ قَالَ جَلَسَ عَلِيٌّ بَعْدَمَا صَلَّى الْفَجْرَ فِي الرَّحَبَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِغُلَامِهِ ائْتِنِي بِطَهُورٍ فَأَتَاهُ الْغُلَامُ بِإِنَاءٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ وَطَسْتٍ قَالَ عَبْدُ خَيْرٍ وَنَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ نَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ فَأَخَذَ بِيَمِينِهِ الْإِنَاءَ فَأَكْفَأَهُ عَلَى يَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ غَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى الْإِنَاءَ فَأَفْرَغَ عَلَى يَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ غَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ فَعَلَهُ ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ قَالَ عَبْدُ خَيْرٍ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ لَا يُدْخِلُ يَدَهُ فِي الْإِنَاءِ حَتَّى يَغْسِلَهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى فِي الْإِنَاءِ فَمَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ وَنَثَرَ بِيَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى فِي الْإِنَاءِ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ غَسَلَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقِ ثُمَّ غَسَلَ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقِ ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى فِي الْإِنَاءِ حَتَّى غَمَرَهَا الْمَاءُ ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا بِمَا حَمَلَتْ مِنْ الْمَاءِ ثُمَّ مَسَحَهَا بِيَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ مَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ بِيَدَيْهِ كِلْتَيْهِمَا مَرَّةً ثُمَّ صَبَّ بِيَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ عَلَى قَدَمِهِ الْيُمْنَى ثُمَّ غَسَلَهَا بِيَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ صَبَّ بِيَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ غَسَلَهَا بِيَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى فَغَرَفَ بِكَفِّهِ فَشَرِبَ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَذَا طُهُورُ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى طُهُورِ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَهَذَا طُهُورُهُ

'Abd Khair said: 'Ali sat after praying Fajr in ar-Rahbah, then he said to his slave: Bring me water for wudoo'. The slave brought him a vessel in which there was water and another, large, vessel. 'Abd Khair said: We were sitting and looking at him. He took the vessel in his right hand and tilted it over his left hand, then he washed both hands. Then he took the vessel in his right hand and poured water over his left hand, then he washed both hands. He did that three times. 'Abd Khair said: Throughout that, he did not put his hand in the vessel until he had washed it three times. Then he put his right hand in the vessel and washed his mouth, and rinsed his nose with his left hand. He did that three times. Then he put his right hand in the vessel and washed his face three times. Then he washed his right arm up to the elbow three times, then he washed his left arm up to the elbow three times. Then he put his right hand in the vessel until it was immersed, then he lifted it with whatever water was on it, and he wiped his left hand with it then he wiped his head with both hands, once. Then he poured water with his right hand three times on his right foot, then he washed it with his left hand. Then he poured water with his right hand on his left foot, then he washed it with his left hand three times. Then he put his right hand in the vessel and scooped up a handful of water and drank. Then he said: This is the wudoo' of the Prophet of Allah (PBUH); whoever would like to see the wudoo' of the Prophet of Allah (PBUH), this is his wudoo’.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي حَسَّانَ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ السَّلْمَانِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ يَوْمَ الْأَحْزَابِ اللَّهُمَّ امْلَأْ بُيُوتَهُمْ وَقُبُورَهُمْ نَارًا كَمَا شَغَلُونَا عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى حَتَّى آبَتْ الشَّمْسُ

It was narrated from 'Ali that on the day of al-Ahzab, the Prophet (PBUH) said: "O Allah, fill their houses and graves with fire as they distracted us from the middle prayer until the sun set."

عَلِيٍّ، ← عَبِيدَةَ السَّلْمَانِيِّ ← أَبِي حَسَّانَ الْأَعْرَجِ، ← قَتَادَةَ ← سَعِيدٍ، ← عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ،

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَنْبَأَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ جُعْتُ مَرَّةً بِالْمَدِينَةِ جُوعًا شَدِيدًا فَخَرَجْتُ أَطْلُبُ الْعَمَلَ فِي عَوَالِي الْمَدِينَةِ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِامْرَأَةٍ قَدْ جَمَعَتْ مَدَرًا فَظَنَنْتُهَا تُرِيدُ بَلَّهُ فَأَتَيْتُهَا فَقَاطَعْتُهَا كُلَّ ذَنُوبٍ عَلَى تَمْرَةٍ فَمَدَدْتُ سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ ذَنُوبًا حَتَّى مَجَلَتْ يَدَايَ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ الْمَاءَ فَأَصَبْتُ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهَا فَقُلْتُ بِكَفَّيَّ هَكَذَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا وَبَسَطَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَدَيْهِ وَجَمَعَهُمَا فَعَدَّتْ لِي سِتَّةَ عَشْرَ تَمْرَةً فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَأَكَلَ مَعِي مِنْهَا

It was narrated that Mujahid said: 'Ali (RA) said: I got very hungry once in Madinah, so I went out to look for work in ' Awali al-Madinah. I saw a woman who had collected some mud and i thought that she wanted to add water to it. So I made a deal with her, for each bucket one date. I brought sixteen buckets full, until it left marks on my hands, then I went to the water and drank some. Then I came to her and opened my hands in front of her like this - Isma'eel spread his hands and put them together - and she counted out sixteen dates for me. Then I came to the Prophet (PBUH) and told him, and he ate some of them with me.

عَلِيٍّ، ← مُّجَاھِدٍ ← أَيُّوبَ ← إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ و حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ و حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ أَبِي جَنَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ الطُّهَوِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلْحَجَّامِ حِينَ فَرَغَ كَمْ خَرَاجُكَ قَالَ صَاعَانِ فَوَضَعَ عَنْهُ صَاعًا وَأَمَرَنِي فَأَعْطَيْتُهُ صَاعًا

It was narrated that Abu Jameelah at-Tuhawi said: I heard 'Ali (RA) say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was treated with cupping, then he said to the cupper when he was finished: How much do you pay to your masters? He said: Two sa's. He ordered that one sa' be waived, and he told me to give him one sa'.

عَلِيًّا ← أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ الطُّهَوِيِّ ← أَبِي جَنَابٍ ← أَبِي ← سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَکِيعٍ ← و، ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ← وَکِيعٌ و ← أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ و حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الثَّعْلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ خَادِمًا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَرَتْ فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أُقِيمَ عَلَيْهَا الْحَدَّ فَوَجَدْتُهَا لَمْ تَجِفَّ مِنْ دَمِهَا فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ فَقَالَ إِذَا جَفَّتْ مِنْ دَمِهَا فَأَقِمْ عَلَيْهَا الْحَدَّ أَقِيمُوا الْحُدُودَ عَلَى مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ وَهَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ

It was narrated from 'Ali (RA): A female servant of the Prophet (PBUH) committed zina and he ordered me to carry out the hadd punishment on her. I found that her (postpartum) bleeding had not yet stopped, so I went to him and told him about that, and he said: "When the bleeding stops, then carry out the hadd punishment on her. Carry out the hadd punishment on those whom your right hands possess." This is the version of Ishaq bin Isma'eel.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَالْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أُخْبِرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأَمَةٍ لَهُ فَجَرَتْ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ شَهِدْتُ عَلِيًّا وَعُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ وَعُثْمَانُ يَنْهَى عَنْ الْمُتْعَةِ وَأَنْ يُجْمَعَ بَيْنَهُمَا فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَهَلَّ بِهِمَا فَقَالَ لَبَّيْكَ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَحَجٍّ مَعًا فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ تَرَانِي أَنْهَى النَّاسَ عَنْهُ وَأَنْتَ تَفْعَلُهُ قَالَ لَمْ أَكُنْ أَدَعُ سُنَّةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِقَوْلِ أَحَدٍ مِنْ النَّاسِ

It was narrated from Marwan bin Al-Hakam that he said: I saw 'Ali and 'Uthman (RA) between Makkah and Madinah. 'Uthman was telling people not to do tamattu' or join them together (Hajj and 'Urn rah, i.e., qiran). When 'Ali (RA) saw that, he entered ihram for both of them together and said: Here I am for 'Umrah and Hajj together. ' Uthman (RA) said: You see me telling the people not to do that and you do it? He said: I will not give up a Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) for the opinion of anyone among the people.

مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَکَمِ ← عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ← الْحَكَمِ، ← شُعْبَةُ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَإِسَحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ و حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ و حَدَّثَنِي سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ جَمِيعًا عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ مَيْسَرَةَ رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ شَرِبَ قَائِمًا فَقُلْتُ تَشْرَبُ وَأَنْتَ قَائِمٌ قَالَ إِنْ أَشْرَبْ قَائِمًا فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَشْرَبُ قَائِمًا وَإِنْ أَشْرَبْ قَاعِدًا فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَشْرَبُ قَاعِدًا

It was narrated from Maisarah: I saw 'Ali (PBUH) drinking whilst standing and I said: Do you drink whilst standing? He said: if I drink whilst standing, i saw the Messenger of Allah ((PBUH) drink whilst standing, and if I drink whilst sitting, I saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) drink whilst sitting.
